How did the two of you meet?
We met in at the University of Missouri our freshman year. Jack was on the football team and I was an athletic trainer.
Describe the proposal.
Jack proposed on the day he graduate college at a park where we liked to walk our dog, Dakota. We were taking pictures in our caps and gowns and he got down on one knee. He was only a few weeks out after having knee surgery on his left knee so it was pretty special that he was able to actually kneel. We then went out to dinner at Sophia’s restaurant in Columbia which is where we had our first date.
Theme of the wedding?
Casual, fun, and a little bit preppy. We wanted it to just feel like a party instead of a traditional reception.
Favorite detail of the wedding?
Well that is the hardest question ever. Let’s go with..everything! But truly, I think the setting was my favorite. We were so blessed to be welcomed into his aunt and uncle’s home. It was just so perfect and so special.
Favorite moment during the day?
Other than saying “I do!” it would have to be the fireworks.
Worse moment of the day?
That would have to be when I finally took my shoes off and discovered just how bad my feet hurt.
Finding the dress… explain the moment you knew it was the one.
I have to say, I never really had that AH HA moment. I was stuck between two dresses and at one point I just looked into the mirror and said, this is the one that I will look back on and be proud of. It’s the one that I felt most like myself in, I think that’s why it was never a big moment, it just felt like a part of me and what I was supposed to wear on the biggest day of my life.
Biggest challenge you had with planning the wedding?
For us, we had to think of the details that most other brides didn’t have to worry about. Because we had to bring everything to the reception site, we had to worry about things like water glasses, coffee cups, salt and pepper shakers, etc. That plus worrying about the weather CONSTANTLY. Thank goodness it ended up to 75 and sunny in the middle of October! Thank you St. Louis!
Words of wisdom to future brides.
EAT!!!!! I did not eat enough I felt so crappy because I had no energy. Also, hire a wedding planner. It will be worth EVERY SINGLE PENNY. They worry about the stuff that you don’t have to worry about. Plus it’s nice to not be the one in charge on your wedding day. Also, get a videographer. There is nothing that being able to relive that day every time you watch your video. I cry every time I see it and they captured the day so perfectly.
Any unexpected funny moments?
When our Priest busted out some serious dance moves on the dance floor. He surprised us all with some amazing moves!
How was your wedding day? Everything and more?
Our wedding day was absolutely perfect. I don’t think I would have changed a thing. Every detail was perfect and exactly how I pictured it. I have so many beautiful memories from that day. In the end, I got to marry my best friend and that is all I could have ever dreamed of.
