Emily & Ryan

How did the two of you meet?

We met at D’Ladiums in Cape Girardeau, MO, after a Jake Owen concert. I saw a handsome man, taller than me, and decided I had to meet him because that doesn’t happen very often (I’m almost 6-ft tall). I knew some of the people Ryan was with, so I asked them to introduce us. A week later, we went on our first date.

Describe the proposal.

First, he asked for my Dad’s permission to propose.  Then, he took me to dinner at Mary Jane’s in Perryville,  MO, the location of our first date. During dinner, I embarrassingly came out of the bathroom with the back of my dress tucked into my underwear. Lots of laughs later, we went for a walk around the old town square where he dropped down on one knee and proposed to me. I happily said, “Yes!”

Theme of the wedding?

Simple and Classy with vintage and rustic accents

Favorite detail of the wedding?

Everything! I loved that everyone was so happy! I loved my dress!

Favorite moment during the day?

Walking down the aisle with my Dad by my side, my friends and family all around, and the man of my dreams in front of me was perfection.

Worse moment of the day?

Cutting my foot on glass just minutes before the wedding. I was afraid it would bleed through onto my  dress, but luckily Ryan’s sister is a nurse and wrapped it perfectly.

Finding the dress… explain the moment you knew it was the one.

We decided to start dress shopping at Low’s Bridal in Brinkley, AR, because that’s where we found my sister’s wedding dress, and they have such a great selection and great customer service. My mom, my sister (maid-of-honor), and I walked in a few minutes early, just to browse. We told the front desk attendant that we had arrived, and when I turned around I saw THE dress in the             corner of the front window. It was perfection! I knew I wanted it, but also knew I had to buy off the rack because the wedding was only two months away. I looked around to make sure no one else was eyeing it, then I snuck over and checked it out. I knew this dress might work, so I stood guard over it until my fitting consultant arrived. Twenty minutes later, dress shopping was complete. This was the only dress I tried on, and it was everything I wanted and more! It was truly made for me.

Biggest challenge you had with planning the wedding?

Finding suits for the Groom and Groomsmen.

Words of wisdom to future brides.

Have a short engagement and save yourself the stress. We planned our wedding in only three short months, and didn’t miss out on anything.

Any unexpected funny moments?

Yes. The minister mistakenly said,   “Repeat after me… I, Emily, take you, Ryan, to be my wife…”   I knew he didn’t mean to say “WIFE”, so I answered with, “I,  Emily, take you, Ryan, to be my husband…” Close call!  Also, the power went out for a minute while my dad was giving a speech, so he just started entertaining the crowd.

How was your wedding day? Everything and more?

It was more than I ever expected or needed, and I loved every minute! It was perfect for us!
